Got my email today from South Point, confirming my reservations during the CCA convention. (Reservations actually made quite a while ago. I think their system automatically generates this email about 7 weeks in advance.) Booked using the nice CCA-negotiated discount for members/attendees at the convention -- a nice membership perk!
The email starts out like this ...
"Thank you for booking your reservation with South Point Hotel Casino and Spa in Las Vegas. You booked on a group block that has preferred room rates; this rate is only for the participants of that group and will be verified by the group leader."
(Bold emphasis is mine)
I don't recall this notice/warning in prior years, though maybe it's always been there?
Does South Point actually check with CCA (Convention Chairs or Membership Officer or ???) to compare booking names vs. CCA active-member names? If so, does a non-member get bounced from using the special CCA discounts?
Perhaps South Point has been the "victim" of the general public gaming the system in using discounts they aren't entitled to ... or maybe it's just a bluff on their part? Just curious.
