Saw a "teaser" sign along Route 99 in downtown Bakersfield - "Coming Soon / Hard Rock Tejon." And when I passed Mettler in the twilight, there was a new building behind all the others, not far off the 99. Either Farmer Copus is building a new hay-barn, or that would be the Hard Rock. My guess is that access will be from State Highway 166 which intersects both 99 and I-5 near their junction.

The casino promises to be the most exciting thing in Mettler since the power pole beside which James Dean got a ticket for speeding from Officer Otie on September 30, 1955. We know what happened a few hours later.
