My week stay at Dale’s

Dale Seymour, Kenny Craig, Mike Spinetti, Bud Meyer and myself collected, for the most part, similar type chips. We would share finds, either at cost or for free.

Many years ago when Dale was looking to liquidate his chips, he invited me over to see what I could use. I spent many hours pulling out crest and seals that I needed. I pulled out some 80 or more chips. I figured I finally get maybe 20-30 chips as most were rare and expensive.

I remember Dale made 4 or 5 stacks, picked up each stack and rifled through each. After looking through the stacks, I’ll never forget what Dale said “how about $5 apiece”. Dale was more into ivory at the time. I then put a couple of stacks of ivory. Dale separated them into $50, $100 and $200 chips. That was a little depressing although I bought a bunch because of the super deal I got on the c&s

I only had 2 regrets one, I should have bought at least a hundred more dupes. Two, I should have bought regular Vegas chips

Weeks later a chipper bought Dale’s Vegas chips and sold a group of his better ones at the convention for over 5 times what he paid. Those chips were first offered to Kenny Craig for $10,000 less than what he eventually sold them. I alway brought that up to Kenny as Bud Meyer and I would have split the price in a nano second.
