California laws of auction clearly state that the sale MUST go through unless of extenuating legal circumstances (such as the seller knew nothing of the identity and value of the chip - which he admitted is not the case here.) You could also take legal action against the seller but you might as well save your breath to cool your porridge, to quote an old axiom.
