When looking at that chip, it sure seems like it would be rather easy for experts to counterfeit/reproduce an aged looking inlay like that and apply it to a blank chip and sell it for big bucks.
One reason why so many collectors in other fields want nothing to do with casino chips.
No reputable authentication companies. Likely thousands of high priced fake chips out there. No real system for detecting fake chips.
