Robert, sorry, a slight correction...

While PhotoScape X is an excellent image editing tool, it is not a scanner driving device. Scanner software is separate from PhotoScape X and in fact, usage of PhotoScape X does not require a scanner.

PhotoScape X will allow image editing of the majority of image files, .jpg, .png, etc.

The editing capabilities (color correction) cannot change the results of a CIS based scanner. Ron needs to get a CCD based scanner. I know of no know all-in-scanner that is CCD based. By the same token, not all 'scan-only' scanners are CCD based.

Anyone buying a scanner to faithfully render casino chips, eeds to have a CCD based scanner and there are only 2 wats to know. 1) read the technical specifications, looking for CCD imaging, or 2) follow the recommendation of those here that know the difference and will recommend a good CCD based scanner.

As a ChipGuide Admin, most of us can tell when a submitted chip that red in it or hot colors, that the submitter has a CIS based scanner and sometimes a submission gets rejected for inferior color reproduction.
