........passed away about this time in December - Bob Mera 25 years ago in 1999 and Bruce Landau in 2003. Both of these men were great friends of mine and very important people in the history of the CCA.
Bob Mera was the top membership recruiter for the CCA for 5 years in a row and very instrumental in the forming of the Atlantic City Casino Collectibles Club. I was very close to Bob and he game me my nickname of "Mr. Roulette". Bob also had a store in Atlantic City that featured all kinds of chips and other gambling items. Bob passed away after a long battle with Leukemia.
Bruce was an officer of the CCA and a great authority on Nevada chips. Bruce had one of the best Nevada chip collections that he sold to Jerry Wall for several $100,000 around 2000. Although Bruce and I were just about the same age, but I always looked up to him as someone special in the Chip Collecting Hobby. Bruce was very passionate about chip collecting and a really great guy. Bruce would always tell me "Jerry - you are the Best !!" and when he said that I actually thought I was the Best !! Bruce passed away from a massive heart attack as he was enjoying himself at a company Christmas party.
Bob and Bruce are both Members of the CCA Hall of Fame.
I will never forget these two dear friends of mine who both left us way to soon.
Take care,
Jerry
