Re: Luxor boats & more
In Response To: Re: Luxor boats & more ()

Those Luxor boats were novel, but not practical. When checking in, you could opt to take the boat to the other side, diagonally, then get off and take "inclinators" up to your room. Luggage arrived separately via bellhop. Fun for the first time, but you soon discovered you could walk that distance faster than the boat ride!

I seem to recall the boat driver had a spiel about the Luxor during the trip, like doing the Jungle Cruise at Disneyland.

Anyway, I remembered a few VHS videotapes I bought over the years -- The first 2 are about making Luxor and making MGM. The other 2 are just compilations of Las Vegas "Yesterday and Today". I don't have a VHS player anymore, but have thought about getting them duplicated onto DVDs, if that's permissible re copyright?

Here's a simple guide. Basic, not all situations. If it was registered, they will still be protected. You'll need to look at the tape or the package.

1978 to 1 March 1989 Published without notice, and without subsequent registration within 5 years = None. In the public domain due to failure to comply with required formalities

1978 to 1 March 1989 Published without notice, but with subsequent registration within 5 years = 70 years after the death of author. If a work of corporate authorship, 95 years from publication or 120 years from creation, whichever expires first

From 1 March 1989 through 2002 (C) Created after 1977 = 70 years after the death of author. If a work of corporate authorship, 95 years from publication or 120 years from creation, whichever expires first Luxor opened 1992

1929 through 1963 Published with notice but copyright was not renewed = None. In the public domain due to copyright expiration

Before 1929 = In the public domain due to copyright expiration
