Whenever I was in Elko looking for chips
in the 70s I would stop in the Silver Dollar.
One time the bartender gave me a chip he
found in a drawer marked CM. He said it was
was from the 50s when a lady named Celia
Magdeloria (may have been shortened to Clara
Massey) ran games there. I remember a tile
trough that ran the length of the bar that was
used as a spittoon. A bar across the street had
a photo of the place before the top part was
added. It was closed for a while but may be open
now. Looks like they had a lot of owners over the
years. Doby Doc wanted to open an attraction with
all his stuff but the city turned him down. Instead
he moved to Las Vegas and opened the Last Frontier
Village.
