The Landmark "starred" in the film Mars Attacks! when the flying saucer zapped the Landmark. They cut from animation to the real Landmark being imploded.

On a personal note, I stayed there once in the tower rooms. Odd shaped octagon rooms as I recall, but they had a good view.
