I would like to share some excellent resources to obtain early or current information on Las Vegas Casinos.
About 10 years ago when I started my research on the Thunderbird I went to Lied library at UNLV and was
very impressed with the resources that were available back issues of Fabulous Las Vegas Magazine, Microfilm
of Las Vegas Journal Review going way back, and other valuable time saving resources all under one roof.
Over the next 10 years I would make a trip every year to play in World series of poker and would fly out 5
days early each time just to do research at Lied Library. Another resource is Clark County Library on E. Flamingo
Road. They have all the old Las Vegas Phone books going way back and other magazines and etc. On one of
my trips I was told I could go online and look at the Las Vegas Review Journal newspapers dating back to early
1900's and all I had to do was register and get a virtual library card and would be able to access from home.
Since I live in Texas this was a jackpot for me ! In case you have not used this resource I would suggest you do
and it is FREE ! Sign up takes just a few minutes and you are all set. Go online to Las Vegas Clark County library
district and follow prompts to register. If you make it to Lied Library go upstairs ( Special Collections ) and you will be
amazed. You can go online before you get there and see what info is available by casinos name in boxes that you can look at it in person
while at library. You have to make prior arrangements to view these boxes. You cannot take anything into area but
a pencil, paper, cell phone for photos. All other items you bring will be locked up in a locker. This is to keep items from walking
off. You will need to bring a pair of soft white gloves to handle items. I hope this information helps anyone doing research.
