Hi, Steve. I got the impression that the board was not interested in funding or staffing a show outside the June convention, so this one is being done on my own, with my backing, with my risk, and my lifetime of INexperience in doing these things, LOL. That said, I’m a doer. I figure things out. And if it looks plausible to pull off by this coming April, then you’ll see a big announcement. If I have to back off and plan for 2026 instead, I’m ok with that as well, and I hope ecertone else will be as well.
I’ve been very involved in the set up and tear down of the annual convention as well as Jerry’s fall show, so I think I have a decent grasp of what needs to happen on the most basic level. I am meeting with a sales manager of the Grand Sierra Resort on Tuesday (my venue of choice). I have seen her put on some amazing shows at the GSR, and I suspect she will make sure we have a well executed event from the casino/venue standpoint. What I need to make sure I do is fill as many booths with as many collectibles dealers as I can, and make sure that lots and lots of people walk through the doors to buy. This will be a free event to attend, but much more than just a dealer show. I can’t offer up all of the details because I have not nailed them all down yet, but I suspect I will have a fairly well flushed out master plan by the end of this next week. Once that is in place, I will endeavor to enlist help from wherever I can get it. I don’t know whether this will be financially successful or not.
So, yes, I’m taking on a lot, but i feel up to the challenge. Let’s hope this turns into a must-attend annual event, eh? Hope to see you here.
