I got kind of lucky last weekend also. I paid 20 times face for $50 face value of silver coins. Normally more than I would pay (22.5 times face is silver value now) but I realized when negotiating that there was one small gold coin in the pile and that would add to the value. So I pulled the trigger since I needed some of the coins to sell at the antique mall. (I am the only dealer at our huge antique mall that sells coins so they are very popular) When I got home and looked closer at the coins I realized that there were several that were valued at $100 or more including the gold coin which is an uncirculated 1908 $2.50 gold piece. It is worth $400 by itself. I figure that several of the coins alone pay back most of my investment and the rest is gravy. The fun is in the hunt.
