In 2015, I rode from Reno NV to Roseville CA (near Sacramento) and back, up and over the Sierra Nevadas twice and it only took me 6 days. 2 years later, I rode a large circle from Verdi NV to Frenchman Lake to Antelope Lake to Susanville to Chester to Butte Meadows to Chico to Oroville to Yuba City to Collins Reservoir to Bullard’s Bar Reservoir. 12 days. Both these rides were (mostly) all dirt single track and jeep trails with pavement here and there (in cities). Packed a small butane stove, dehydrated food, and other supplies weighing about 80lbs total. I’m sure I’ll go back and complete this Oregon ride. My pride won’t let me sit on the defeat forever. Just done know when. My biggest one day effort was the Markleeville Death Ride. 130 miles, 5 peaks/passes, 15,000 feet of elevation gain, all in a single day. The reward? Ice cream at the top of the 5th pass. Let’s start a cycling club within the chipping club. Who’s in?
