First day of this 2-day “experiment” and I’d say it’s already a success. A lot of attendees were random vacationers who either heard the radio ads or came from the casino floor, having seen the signage for the FREE event and decided to check things out. Quite a few purchased at least one item from a dealer at the show (not all purchases were casino-related as there were several other types of collectibles being presented). As for the CCA, in addition to meeting a lot of non-members and non-collectors, we processed some renewals, sold some club merchandise, and at least one person is coming back tomorrow to discuss membership. One person thought he was current and didn’t know his membership had lapsed, so good thing we had the membership list to check his status and get him back into the good graces of the club, eh? Scot Parriot and Chris Carlson were a tremendous team to help get us set up and they manned the table as much, if not more, than me. Jim Follis brought some additional club materials to hand out and also watched the table. One thing that can happen with tables at events like this is the person manning it sits there with nothing to do and no one to talk to. I don’t think there was more than 5 minutes where someone wasn’t visiting our table. And when there weren’t visitors, CCA club members were sitting with us jawboning and having a great time. So, thanks for a great day, everyone. See you all tomorrow!
