I concur. Who in their right mind would put serious money into a collectable such as a casino chip without proper third-party authentication and a guaranty of authenticity?

Most items of rarity and value are counterfeited, and chips are no exception.

The markets for numismatics, sports (and other) collectable cards as well as comic books would all be a shadow of themselves without the grading/authentication services.

I'm not into chips, in part because of the lack of confidence in authenticity. That said, I believe the anti-stabbers shot themselves in the foot. The market is now so thin that it probably is too late for redemption. Reminds me of the fate of stamp collectors.

Heck, the banner at the top of this page reads "Say NO to slabbing!" Many of you folks made your own bed, and now you have to sleep in it. Sweet dreams.
