With the Las Vegas Mirage getting ready to close its doors. Here is a great newspaper clipping from the Mirage's Grand Opening in Nov. 1989. Any chip collectors in the picture picking up first day issue chips ? Does anybody recognize anyone in the picture ? Was anybody we know there ?

Back in the late 80's and early 90's I was really into the Las Vegas scene. In fact we probably were going to Vegas about twice a month. Plus I had some very high -roller old Jersey friends that had real " juice " and were very well connected in Vegas. Which meant lots of VIP parties including VIP Grand Opening events. Due to the fact I was in Rio De Janeiro on a business trip, I was not able to attend. But my friends did pick me up some nice souvenirs including chips. I finally got to see the Mirage on New Years Eve 1989.

I will truly miss the Mirage It really was a top tier Casino back in the day. In my opinion second place only to Caesars Palace, my absolute favorite casino.
