CCD-based scanners are able to capture a greater range of colors, producing a more accurate and detailed image.
Stumping for easier editing and Irfanview. 😉 Which like Photoscape is a viewer, editor, and many other things. Irfanview also does thumbnail pages, has many auto correction features and now that I figured out how to do it, very easy for circle crops. By the way, for a JPG there is no true circle crop, there's always a white background (or any other color you choose).
1) have an image of a chip
2) crop the image to the edges of the chip (which does not change the original unless you save it)
Image > Add Shadow/border > select circle > make sure the background color is what you want > Shadow Size = 0
(once these are set, you won't need to change anything again, the software remembers your selections)
3) Save the new image, with a different name
So essentially it's take any single chip image, draw a box around it as close to the edges as you can, Image > Add Shadow > click OK > save
