Bear with me as I ramble a bit here, trying to figure out if "Plantation Station" chips exist or not. I'm sure some of you can provide missing info (years, dates, items, and other historical background).
Several denominations of chips are listed in The Chip Rack and Chip Guide, but no pictures and no order cards. Other items exist (Silver Strikes, matchbooks, etc), but no chips. Plantation Station chips are purported to have been issued in 1997 (per chipguide.com), the year the casino closed.
Did some research and discovered the following:
STREETS (posting this info here mostly just for trivia):
1. The original "B" Street was renamed Victorian Avenue (in year ????). Before it was named B St (in year ????), it was called Harriman Avenue. https://wnhpc.com/details/fb1418143856093384
2. A new "B Street" exists, but it's in a multi-building gated apartment complex up in the Spanish Springs area called the Verona Apartments, each building having the address 1475 Vista Del Ranch Pkwy, Sparks NV 89436.
3. Inside this apartment complex are the following streets: A St, B St, C St, and 112 St NE (what?!)
CASINOS
4. "Plantation" opened in 1967 and closed in 1993. Address 2121 B St.
5. "Plantation Station" opened in 1993 and closed in 1997. Same location/building, but address is the renamed 2121 Victorian Ave.
6. "Rail City" casino opened in same location in 1997 and still exists today. The Chip Rack says it closed in 2006, but it's still there and open. Note in Rail City entry explains this: "Opened 1997 and became Terribles Rail City in 2006. Reverted back to Rail City about 2012. As of 09/2023 SLots Only."
CHIP GUIDE (possible opportunities for updates, pending confirmation from historians):
7. The entry for "Plantation" should say "Became Plantation Station in 1993".
8. The entry for "Plantation Station" should say "Became Rail City Casino in 1997".
9. The entry for "Rail City Casino" should say "Became Terribles Rail City in 2006-2012 and reverted to Rail City Casino in 2012-Present".
10. "Terribles Rail City" should exist as a separate entity for years 2006-2012 (?).
Anyway, after you've all taken off your history hats, does anyone have any evidence that the chips listed in CG and TCR ever existed? If not, where would the descriptions have originated from? No order cards. No known chips. And even more odd (to me), TCR book values of only A through H for chips that are more or less non-existent, at least in the buy/sell/trade sphere.
