The greatest gambler of all time has passed…

…Away. 🙁

There will never be another gambler like Archie Karas. I first met him in the late 70’s, when I still lived in Los Angeles. I took this photo a few years ago when we were both playing in a WSOP Satellite at the Rio. One time at the Horseshoe we got heads-up in a Razz Satellite. He tried to talk me into letting him play the tournament when I won the Satellite. I said no. Should have said yes. 😃 I will never forget sweating him & Bobby Baldwin playing $20,000 sets at the Rum Runner in 1993. The money in a brown paper bag set on top of the light.

One more thing about Archie for those that don’t know. He was Greek & born & raised there. He loved his homeland. I remember one time we were talking & he found out I was half Greek. The conversation turned to Greek food. 😃 We talked for a while about what Greek food our Mom’s cooked when we were growing up. Pastitsio being one of our favorites. I think I will order some for dinner tonight, from the Greek Bistro.

RIP, Archie. 🙁
