So we get to 4th St. and start watching the parade. I saw several entries go past before I spotted a number...#48. Oh...a long way to go yet, and the parade was moving pretty slowly. It was getting pretty dark out, and I'm trying to take pictures but they aren't turning out so well...
I sense that our friends are a little bored, but they're being good sports. I'm not sure my husband is going to stay patient until entry #91 rolls past, and I really want to support our club volunteers, so I suggest that we walk up the street so that we can find 'em sooner. We pass the reviewing stand, and the t.v. cameras, and a bunch of parade entries. There were a few places along the route with semi-adequate lighting, so I snapped a few pictures (I've heard bits and pieces about Lonnie Hammargren's collections of stuff...including that he has a replica of a space shuttle on his roof!! I really want to see his house sometime...)
A few blocks later, we found entry #91.
We introduced ourselves to Ralph (who was driving) and Sheldon (who was in the back of the pick-up). We were invited to "hop in"...and my husband did! I hadn't intended to, but I wasn't about to walk back while my hubby rode in style...so they hauled me aboard ! Our friends declined to join us, and walked back to the Golden Nugget (sorry guys...didn't mean to ditch you! ). From that point on, instead of taking pictures of the parade, I took pictures from the parade!
My husband and Sheldon
President Steffner walked the parade route, handing out wooden chips that promote the convention
Tony Tricoli also walked, promoting the club on the other side of the street
Ralph displayed an amazing amount of patience, as the walkers from entry #90 (a political entry) kept stopping along the route, and kept stepping in front of the pick-up (and that was on top of having a couple of unscheduled parade-crashers in the back of his classic beauty!!)
Christine was waiting near the end of the route, and taking pictures of the fun!
Once again, thank you to the volunteers who took their time to promote our club...you "guys" (including Christind) are great!
