Paul, there are many digital cameras out there that can do what you want ... too many to name.
And they can all give you wonderful results.
But I would strongly suggest that which ever camera you decide on, make sure it takes really good close-ups!
That will be the most critical factor for taking good photos of chips and/or room-keys.
Not all digitals take good close-ups!
As for shooting landscapes, portraits, etc., so long as you get a decent camera, you'll get nice results.
