...as it appears not only have the casino and room renovations been completed, they have 7 suites on the top floor that include such amenities as large patio balconies, stripper poles (also known as the Kruse suites) and pool tables (also known as the Hughes suites). They've also followed through on extensive renovations to the old Travel Inn next door, renaming it the Oasis at Gold Spike. They've basically cleaned up the whole block.

When this group first bought the Gold Spike and the rundown motel next door, I was skeptical of their initial proclamations that they were going to completely revamp the properties and turn them into desirable places to stay and play. My skepticism was obviously misplaced. The Spike has lost some of their former local clientèle because they were "scared away by the cleanliness"!

Now if the current owners of the decaying Lady Luck would take similar action with that property, that section of Ogden Avenue could give some of the Fremont Street hotel/casinos some serious competition.
