In the late '80's my daughter and soon to be son-in-law took a summer trip to the Swiss Alps, Italy, Monte Carlo, France before going to Brussels where they were to attend a wedding (that didn't happen but that's another story). They thought of my chip collection as they were driving through Monte Carlo from Italy stopped at the casino thinking to buy me a chip. They were in jeans, tees, sock-less and were greeted by a speechless doorman who said they could not enter the casino in that garb. My daughter said, sadly, "Oh we were so hoping we could buy a chip for my father's collection...." The man said to wait there and disappeared back in side. A few moments later he returned, handed them a couple of cheques, told them there was no charge and hoped they had a safe trip. Which is how I got my first Monte Carlo chips.
