Gene, when you say the chips have a cross hatch texture it's hard to explain. I have to tell you, the instant I saw your photos it looked like someone heated the chips a little and put a plastic checker piece on each side of the chip and then squeezed the circle design on it in a vice. I did the same thing with a plain chip and a couple plastic chips. The uneven stamping is really visible. Your chips have real clean impression at some points and very weak at others. Wear on a chip mold wouldn't do that. I think someone made those impressions some time after the chip was made. Maybe it was done on purpose but, I seriously doubt it's a mold type.
