I have taken the time to read of all of the posts that have been listed in regards to the club magazine. I would like to throw my two cents in. I am very new to the club, and do not know a single person in the club. I live in Canada and there are no members in my area that I can correspond or meet with. Although I have collected for a few years, I really know nothing about chip collecting. This message board and the magazine are my only sources of information (that I trust implicitly). My own collection takes a lot of time, so I can’t even imagine the amount of time that must be involved in putting the magazine together. (Thank you very much to all of those involved).
What I can say is that from what I have seen of the members of this club is that they are all very dedicated to their hobby. Will a few more dollars a year in postage really hurt us? The argument has been brought up that increased rates will lower membership. Are the people that drop out the same people that invest hundreds of hours in the hobby? I don’t think so. I take my collection very seriously. If there is a magazine that will better educate me I am willing to pay more for it. If there are more articles, it will appeal to more people. If it looks great on my coffee table all the better. It may interest more people to join. I leave my "Official U.S. Casino Chip price Guide" on my coffee table. Every person that has picked up the book, has gone through cover to cover, just to look at the pictures. I think we should take the same pride when publishing the magazine.
As for casinos advertising in the magazine, I’m all for it. I will gladly read an ad knowing that they have paid to make the magazine better.
