HELLDORADO PARADE INFORMATION

The HELLDORADO EVENING parade will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010 and will begin at 7:00 p.m. Enclosed you will find a map of the staging area, your time that you need to be in your staging area and your number. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU BRING YOUR NUMBER AND PLACE IN A VISIBLE AREA ON YOUR ENTRY. Staging areas and times may vary depending on the type of entry (vehicle, walking, equestrian, etc.) Entries with large pedestrian groups and vehicles will be asked to pre-stage in two separate areas.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU READ AND UNDERSTAND THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:

• PARKING Limited parking is available in the downtown parade area. We strongly encourage groups to carpool. The parade route is Fourth Street, northbound from Gass to Ogden. Parking in metered areas, and the City Hall Parking garage located on Fourth Street and Stewart will be free. Red zone and handicapped parking laws do apply. You must have a plan for pick up at the end of the parade; there will not be any shuttle service.

• STAGING AREAS
ALL VEHICLES & FLOATS will be staged on Fourth Street, SOUTH of Charleston.
ALL PEDESTRIAN GROUPS will be staged WEST of Fourth Street and NORTH of Charleston.
EQUESTRIAN ENTRIES will be staged on GASS, between FOURTH STREET AND LAS VEGAS BLVD. You may also stage your horses in the Muni Swimming Pool parking lot located off 4th Street and Bonanza (431 East Bonanza). Fourth Street will be closed to
thru traffic beginning at 5:00 p.m. so you can ride your horses SOUTH on 4th to the staging area.

• REFER TO YOUR MAP FOR YOUR LOCATION!
Plenty of staff will be on site to assist you.
LOOK FOR THE BRIGHT GREEN STAFF T-SHIRTS!!!

While moving to the staging areas, watch for pedestrians, children and animals—use caution!

• SCHOOL BUS DROP OFF AND PICK UP
SCHOOL BUSES OR OTHER BUSES will drop off on the EAST side of CASINO CENTER between Charleston and Gass. Bus staging is in the Muni Swimming Pool parking lot located off 4th Street and Bonanza (431 East Bonanza).

High School Students – at the end of the parade, please stay on the sidewalk on the right hand side. Metro will assist you with crossing Stewart and Fourth Street. The walk to the pool is a short distance.

• PORTA POTTIES will be provided at various locations in the staging areas.

• MOVING DOWN THE PARADE ROUTE in order to keep the parade exciting, we don’t want to have big gaps between entries so please, keep moving!

• FOUR LEGGED ANIMALS If you have any animals in the parade, remember, it is your responsibility to provide a pooper scooper. The city requires that you clean up after your animals. HORSES – we strongly encourage you NOT to allow small children near your horse.

• CHILDREN Children under the age of 16 must have appropriate chaperones.

• MISCELLANEOUS Remember, your entry is being watched by judges which will be located near the Fremont Street Experience… WAVE as you go by!

Award winners will be notified the week after the parade. Winners will notified the week following the parade and will be asked to attend the JUNE 16, 2010 City Council meeting to receive your award. City council is held in the City Hall – council chambers and begins promptly at 9:00 a.m.

• DON’T FORGET this is an evening parade and the sun goes down around 7:45 p.m. LIGHT UP!!! The parade is also televised LIVE by Cox Communications. Please make sure to keep moving, don’t stop when you come to their area. In order for the parade to look good on TV it has to keep moving!!! We appreciate your help with this.

Fireworks show from the top of the Fremont Street Experience Garage at 9:00 p.m.
