First I agree that it's really a bummer if people are putting in damaged slot cards. My feeling is if a slot card is damaged: Throw it in the Trash if it's a dupe. Or give it away but trading it for a good card is wrong. Likewise you shouldn't put in dupes if that's what the rules are.
On the other hand, I'm a little bothered by the complaint about people putting "common" cards in a round robin. I thought round robins were ways for newer collectors to add cards to their collections. Newer collectors mostly do have common cards that they've picked up in their travels. Plus newer collectors don't know what's common and what's not. This was the first slot card round robin I've ever participated in. I basically put in all my dupes, which was about 7 cards from Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas, and picked out 7 cards that I thought looked "cool." I had no idea if they were common or not, just that I liked how they looked. I'm sure the cards I put in were common, although some of them were pretty new, so it's possible some didn't have them yet.
