Similar outages have been experienced randomly and if noticed quickly by either David Spragg or I, we can call the server hosting facility to have them reboot the chip board's server.
Also sometimes the hosting facility will receive an "alarm" condition on their server monitoring and will reboot it automatically for us.
Ever since I've been involved in the sites, I've been in contact with the hosting facility about these issues and they have recommended a couple of hardware upgrades to their server at a cost to us which "may" fix the intermittent hang-ups. There have been plans to try to move the sites to a different hosting facility as a result, I have not taken up their suggestions of doing any upgrades.
These problems that I've discussed here should have affected all users and not just AOL users. If there is an AOL issue, that would be something new that I've haven't heard of before.
