Chipco as choice, tournament chips

I'm curious - for those who might know, why would a casino choose Chipco chips? Sure, they can be fancy as heck, but they're not very durable (so it seems). A small casino with limited action could make 'em last, but a big place? Then again, Luxor had 'em originally? Any casino execs/workers with a knowledge of such decisions?

Also, could have sworn I saw Chipco-type chips being used for recent PS-NAPT tourney on ESPN. This might make sense, since such play would be limited.

Like I said, just curious...
