best advise someone can give a new collector in any hobby. I was taught that many years ago when I was a coin collector. Instead of a shoe box full of common coins you are better off in the long run saving and buying one great silver dollar or what ever your taste run towards. That shoe box will hardly grow in value but that one good coin will grow in value.
