Actually there is a way to remove 99% of the cancellation. I don't know what it entails but I thing some sandpaper or something will work. I have an uncancelled $2.50 Argosy casino that even with a magnifiying glass it can't be determined if it was cancelled or not. Yet I know that it was cancelled.

If you are going to use acetone(more commonly called nail polish remover) do not leave it on the chip for more than 30 seconds or the chip will melt.
