The magazine article stating $1,100 ~~~

~~~ kind of reminds me of some "fakes" that are ivory that depicted famous places/names and cataloged as "commemoratives" that fetched well over $1000 in the past.

I remember one "Texas Belle" ivory I had; a chip of no such boat.. that was very popular with ivory collectors.

I don't know what this bone octagon chips looks like or feels like in person, but it seems that the grapics are neither "stamped or engraved" on to the surface, but rather a process that was done on glass back then; kind of an "etch" of sorts... just going by looks in both scans.

I'd like to find the 2005 magazine article, though.

Definitely looks like two different chips
Looks to be hot stamped not carved...
