During the last Subway Series in 1956, the players from both teams DID use the subway which was actually the elevated train that stops at 161st Street. I was working for Harry M. Stevens at the time & got a chance to meet many of the players as they got off the train stop first thing in the morning. I saw Don Larsen the day he pitched the perfect game & gave him an orange drink as he walked from the station to the players entrance at the Stadium. He wanted to pay me but I told him to just pitch a good game & wished him well. The rest is history & I have a sense that the drink I treated him to that day played a small role in what happened. This is going to be one great series for all baseball fans around the world.
