If you use an invalid email address - with "remove" or spaces - it causes problems for the board admins. You can do so and uncheck the "Email me when a reply is posted" box but then you will not get notice if someone post a comment to your post. One other possibility is to get a separate email account - hotmail or google - to use on the board. They have pretty decent spam screening so you do not have to deal with it most of the time.
