I do orientations for our new employees at work. One of the things I tell them is "Don't discuss controversial topics like politics while you are in uniform. You may be discussing politics with someone, and be in complete agreement. BUT...you don't know who might overhear you, that DOESN'T agree. That person might decide to take their business elsewhere...assuming that your views are the view of the company. While you are in uniform, you represent the company...don't cost us customers."
The same thing can easily happen on the chipboard...there are lurkers, who don't post. If they read some of the political posts, they could assume that's the political views of the club. People can say the club doesn't have political views, and that the chipboard isn't club related, 'til they're blue in the face...the people on the board who are members of the club, and who post their club number next to their name ARE representing the club.
Yep...people can put NCR on the political posts, and some do. But a few days later, when the lead post is off the board and someone responds, the NCR may be gone. I avoid reading political posts...but still accidently click on some of them and I don't enjoy that.
