Paul; I do believe that the offer of the membership list being available to club members has been published in the club magazine on several occassions. It's no big secret.
Also, yes I do think that you are naive and sooner or later you must come to grips and realize that there are many club members who do profit from the sale of chips.... including yours truly. Not all club members are "traders". There would be NO annual convention(s) or a club magazine if every member was a purist trader.
As for "the list" itself, I've personally never used it for the purposes of mass mailings, but I see nothing wrong with those who do. I'm certain that the majority of club members welcome receiving such mailings from those who have chips and tokens for sale. Those that do not wish to receive such materials may request that their name be removed by contacting the club's Membership Officer.... or by contacting the "offending" dealer and request that their name be removed from his mailing list. Dealers don't want to incur the expense of sending lists after lists after lists out to folks who are not interested in receiving them.
