Some this country's largest employers are starting to crunch the numbers, finding out what health care reform will cost them. AT&T estimates its new costs to be $1 billion. Caterpillar figures the costs to them at $100 million. 3M weighs in at $85-90 million. More and more businesses will have their accountants busy trying to figure out what this debacle will cost each of them. Guess what they will all do....cut expenses by laying off (more) people and trimming benefits, and raising the costs of their goods and services (or out sourcing more of them to China).
In the worst American economy since Carter was President, Congress and Obama just took a massive step to make it much, much worse. If anything could push us from recession to full blown depression, this just might be it.
