I can provide you with a plethora of "lies" told by high ranking Democrats that happen to be the exact same "lies" you accuse Bush of telling if you wish, but I really don't think you want to go there.
I suggest people watch Olberman if anyone is interested in facts and proof to back them up. But that's no fun right?
Olberman is a tool. A stooge. His daily function is to spew venomous pabulum to all three dozen of his viewers. If you honestly believe you get anything remotely resembling the truth from that clown, I feel pity for you. I truly do. Your indoctrination is complete, and very likely, irreversible
Someone on here said we are 'screwed' now. Actually I was screwed when I was not allowed private insurance due to a heart problem I was told I was born with but I am just as active and healthy as the next guy. Now I am the opposite of screwed but surely someone out there is pissed off that I am now allowed to get insurance. Thanks whoever you are but insurance is meant for people who NEED IT and we all will if not already need it!
It wouldn't have taken over 2,000 pages of legislation and a trillion dollars to expand insurance pools to lower premiums and provide addendum's (albeit at a likely higher deductible) to coverage for pre-existing conditions. Open up the ability for insurance companies to service every state (like car and home insurance companies do). Initiate malpractice tort reform lowering the insurance premiums that doctors and hospitals have to pay for malpractice insurance. The competition would lower premiums, and tort reform would lower the costs incurred by those providing health care, which would in turn lower costs to insurance companies. Both of these Republican ideas were rejected by Congressional Democrats. Our current Vice President even admitted there was no way Congress was going to mess with trial lawyers (and part of their income gravy train).
Lastly, these lawsuits against the bill claim that Americans can't be forced to buy insurance, but actually we are forced to buy auto insurance, but I guess someone would say we aren't forced to drive a vehicle but then I would remind them that we live in a time where it is almost impossible not to, so you really don't have a choice around auto insurace.
The Constitution doesn't appear to mean anything to the Obama administration and Congressional Democrats. Auto insurance is not a federal unfunded mandate placed upon every citizen in every state. The 10th amendment provides for states rights. While the states can set individual requirements on driver insurance, they can't force every citizen within their respective states to buy it, whether they need it and want it, or don't need it or want it. You are trying to compare apples to bowling balls. If you have a car with 5 people in it, only the driver is required to have auto insurance, and in many or most states, the minimum requirements are for liability. The 4 passengers don't have to have auto insurance just to ride in a car! Obamacare forces every citizen to buy/have insurance, whether they need it and want it, or don't need it or want it. It is a huge implementation of Marxist cradle-to-grave government intervention into all of our lives.
