This is a political consideration for Whelan's good friend, Curtis Bashaw, who owns a smaller hotel "The Chelsea" (less than 500 rooms) and who has expressed interest in opening a "botique" casino if Whelan gets his bill passed. Why not just permit slots at the Irish Pub, or Baltimore Grill, or White House Subs? Another newspaper article said that reducing the minimum number of hotel rooms to qualify for a gaming license would turn A.C. into a Las Vegas type Fremont Street. I don't think that's what the New Jersey voters approved back in 1976.

Wanna' bet that Revel gets it's $300 million tax break?? Too much at risk if it does not. The $300 million is spread over ten years. The amount of jobs involved and loss of tax revenue is huge if this project does not open.
