Greg Susong Memorial Award - Please read!

Dear Club Members,

Andy Hughes and I requested and received approval from the CCGTCC board to rename the Presidents trophy in honor of Greg Susong after his passing. We felt that Gregs contributions to this hobby should be honored yearly by recognizing others that have made similiar contributions. In order to make this a reality, Andy and I have decided to start fund raising to accomplish 3 things:

1. Purchase a perpetual trophy that will be named the Greg Susong Memorial Award and will have the name of each years winner from 2011 forward.
2. Brings Gregs family to the convention banquet this year to witness the presentation of the trophy to the CCGTCC board of directors.
3. Provide funds to purchase a plaque for each years winner that will be taken home because the perpetual trophy will remain in Las Vegas.

I plan to start posting donated chips and memorabilia on this board tomorrow in a format that will request bids from other chip board readers with more items added as the bids increase. I have requested donations from other board members and have received very generous donations from David Sarles and Lynn Brooks. If you find it possible, please consider donating whatever you can in either cash, bids or things that can be auctioned off on the board. We will definitely need your help and I will graciously acknowledge all contributions. Please read below to get more information from the approved proposal.

Thanks,

Mike and Andy

THE GREG SUSONG MEMORIAL AWARD

There be an annual award called "The Greg Susong Award". The first award should be given at the 2011 Convention based on the winners contributions in the calendar year 2010.

This award should be given to the person that makes the greatest contributions to the chip collecting hobby in addition to having the greatest impact on advancing the chip collecting hobby. Criteria should include work done in all facets of the hobby, both online, in print and in person at Club functions.

This should be a yearly award based on contributions to the hobby from January 1st to December 31st.

The club should request nominations from Club Members via an online request on the Club website from January 10th to January 31st of the following year. This request should be publicized by email, posts on TheChipBoard.com, post on the CCGTCC website, and a notice published in the Club Magazine.

The top 5 nominees based on club member polling will then be compiled and publicized.

All club members will then be asked to vote for one of the nominees that they feel is most deserving. Only one vote per club member will be allowed. Based on the online voting, by the club membership via a confidential online polling site, the winner will be determined.

For the first award, The Greg Susong family should be invited to present the trophy to the winner. The cost for bringing Greg's widow and two children to the banquet will be raised by member donations from TheChipBoard.com and auctions of chip donations sold on the same site.

All 5 nominees will be invited to the Convention Banquet where the award will be announced and presented. The 4 runners up will receive a framed certificate celebrating their nomination.

The award should include a large and prestigious trophy with a name plate large enough to annually add deserving winners for 50 years. It should be kept in Las Vegas so that it can be easily displayed at the Club Convention. In addition to having the deserving winner's name added to the trophy nameplate, a quality plaque should also be given that the winner can personally keep and display.
