About that chart. What many folks don't realize about the non-partisan CBO is, while it is non-partisan in its structure, i.e., the party complexion of its members, the numbers they must use in making economic forecasts are numbers submitted to them by Congress, and those numbers are not subject to revue or debate. That means the CBO can only work with numbers (sometimes pie-in-the-sky guesses) submitted to them by the authors of pending or recently approved legislation. They aren't open to challenge before being used. That means those CBO estimates are solely based on what numbers Pelosi and Reid have given to them. Obviously the Obama Whitehouse thinks the CBO numbers are too high, but that is to be expected from this Whitehouse. I think they're both low balling, and the future is even worse than they're attempting to predict.
