Smitty, what I was trying to say was that the actions and behaviors of the Bush administration/Republican controlled House & Senate from 2001-2006 caused much of the anger in the independent voters to switch House & Senate control to the Democrats in 2006 (event #1) and Mr. Obama's election victory in 2008 (event #2).

In no way do I believe the Republicans had anything to do with the Democrats "need" to pass this health care bill or in the way they did. The Democrats (especially Mr Obama) campaigned on change and open government - which they have not delivered. As for current events the Democrats will have nobody to point fingers at but themselves (good & bad). If there is another wave of party control change in the 2010 & 2012 elections it will be caused by their actions and behaviors.

While in power the Democrats have done in 1 year what the Republicans couldn't do in 6 years being in control - pass a comprehensive health care bill. I expect both parties will campaign vigoriously on this pitching their own point-of-view on what was done.
