... when Hilton Hotels went ahead and built the original Hilton Hotel Casino on the remediated former city dump site (now called the Marina District) the Casino Control Commission rejected their gaming license application because one of the lawyers associated with Hilton was connected to the mob. Hilton then sold the 99% completed building to Donald Trump for $330 million and "The Donald" opened the virtually complete casino "Trump Castle" ... now called "Trump Marina" with Hilton rainbow chips on the tables.

MGM was faced with a similar prospect with the NJ CCC because of MGM's connection to Patsy Ho in Macau... so MGM choose to sell their interest in A.C.'s most succesful property,Borgata, in order to pursue their Macau interests and get out of A.C.
