1) A large percentage of Americans disagree with - depends which poll you listen to, today's NBC Nightly news said it's about 45%/45%/10%
2) Was developed by one party with no input whatsover from the other - both parties do this when they are in power
3) Most likely has not been read by the vast majority of people being asked to vote for it - this is typical Washington
4) Needs to be put into effect immediately - you've got me there
5) Has every trick in the book being used to push it thru (Constitutional or not) - both parties do this when they are in power
6) And last but not least (this being the most important), exempts all those who push it and tell us that is what the country needs, from being subject to that very legislation. - sadly this is also typical Washington
For better or for worse this is going to pass because the Democrats who already voted for this once can't risk voting against it now because they'll be branded as "flip-floppers" - instead they'll spin it as "moving forward on health care which has been a goal since Harry Truman was President".
I take no pleasure thinking about the financial consequences due to the actions of President G.W. Bush for eight years & now President Obama. The two of them combined (along with both parties in Congress) have done more damage to the US economy/budget/debt/taxes than any others since the late 1920s.
Someday soon the US will no longer be the "Super Power" it once was. Our 65 years of social-economic behavior since the end of WWII have put us in a very dangerous position. We've been making promises we can't keep and living beyond our means. The next couple of generations may not have it "better" than their parents. The bills are due - it was bound to catch up.
