I don't think the illegal hobby is "dead", but it is certainly weakened. Years ago there were many more collectors and although some are still around, the excitement has waned quite a bit. I see it not only in illegals but in the hobby as a whole. The frenzy has worn off and we're all just learning to settle in. Its not necessarily bad - just different.
