Today's LVA Question of the day was about the Tower of Pizza...which reminded me that we have this cool postcard

It also reminded me of a story. Several years ago there was a shop in Bullhead, I think it was called Whimsey's Collectibles, it was run/owned by a lady and her son. We went there a couple of times and they always has some casino stuff, including some Pioneer Club carpeting (Laughlin...the "P" with the hat and scarf). Some of the casino stuff was kept in an old trunk, including a couple of albums just filled with old matchbooks. She wouldn't sell the matchbook collection, though. She'd lived in Vegas for several years. She worked at the Tower of Pizza, and she didn't have a lot of money. She loved Vegas, though, and she used to go around to all the places and pick up matchbooks, putting the collection together for her son.
Vegas grew and so did the crime level. One night she was mugged, she was robbed and was hit in the head with a baseball bat. She suffered some brain damage, and (I think I'm remembering this right) she didn't feel safe in Vegas anymore. She and her son moved to Bullhead, and eventually opened up the shop. She told us her story and I remembered seeing the Tower of Pizza in a postcard of the Strip that we had just bought. I got it from the car to show her and she loved it. We had to give it to her . We bought a bunch of stuff...some Flamingo glassware, a Dunes new tower G.O. shovel thing, the set of booklets that Jim Gelette put together.
It was a year or two before we got back to BC and the shop was gone . Actually, the whole building was gone. I always wondered what happened to her and her son.
