OK I bit the bullet and made all of my convention plans today. The airfare ended up being $340 but is nonstop both ways with no baggage fees. I am staying at Circus for a few days before the convention for $22 per nite. Yeah I know a lot of people don't care for the place but I like the low stakes tables in the area and you can actually find a BJ table that pays 3:2. Then on to Southpoint for 4 nites. Since I am monetarily challenged again this year I am staying over the weekend at the convention rate and a few days at $42. You can get the $42 rate by putting EDEAL02 in the promotion code block when making reservations online. I urge you to book as many days as possible at the convention rate to support the club. They use the number of room nites booked to determine our future rates.

Another interesting thing I ran into was for a rental car. I found out that my plane reservations were going to mean that I needed a car for more than a full week. That extra day is normally very pricey. But when I checked the rates for 7 days or my 7 days and 6 hours the rates were almost identical. In fact after taxes I will pay $4 less for the extra time. What happened is that for the reservation over 7 days they dropped the weekly base rate from $132 to $101. So even with the extra day it is less money. Just can't figure out how they conpute their rates but I am not arguing with the results.
