Re: How did we rule out France for this chip?

Beautiful chip Rich !! Congratulations! (you want to get rid of it??(Kidding)

How do we know is not from France?? First, this set of these Deauville C&S is quite large due to the large number of denominations that exist. What Rich is showing there is that this is a denomination that had not been seen before, that is the only rarity of this particular chip as plenty of other denominations in this set have been found.

I can state many reason why this group of chips are Cuban, the most obvious is that practically all of those Deauville crest & Seals of different denominations WERE FOUND IN CUBA !! I have picked up several from Cuba myself and they can still be occassionally found in CUBA.

Some have been found in the US, but all of those claim to have been purchased in Cuba.

Finally, not a single one of these Deauville C&S has been found in France, or any other country and plenty of them were made.

I think is hard to argue with that, but, in addition, the timing, origin, etc goes along with the history of the Deauville.

If you want to see them go to Rich's web site and see wonders.
