Ah Ha, Scanners vs cameras.
1) The quilt picture, had to be taken, processed, and then scanned.
a. Time
b. Expense
2) Anything that is not flat, will not scan.
3) Anything larger than scanner size, must be photographed first
(see number one)
4) You can't take snaps of the family picnic with a scanner.
Scanners are cheaper, if you want to do flat things, or previously processed photos. Cameras are more flexible.
I can see advantages to both, but can see more functional uses for a good digital camera.
Now give me a DVD video camera and a non-linear digital editor, and we can start cooking. :-}
